Since moving to Harwood in 1994, Robert and Maxine have continued the custom of hosting the Opening Day Meet of The Howard County-Iron Bridge Hounds (HCIBH). The event -- always held on the first Saturday of November in rain or shine --has grown in both stature and popularity attracting between 200 and 300 guests and sometimes more in exceptionally good weather. Immediately following the 2008 Meet, they hosted for the first time a "fall buffet" for members and guests in their 1830 bank barn. It was a big success. Foxhunting in Howard County traces back to the late 1800s and has become the leading sporting county in the state and the center of rural Maryland's foxhunting social life.
